On entry to JGW+, all learners complete a Wales Essential Skills Toolkit (WEST) initial assessment during induction to identify their current literacy, numeracy and digital literacy levels, helping plan appropriate support and progression from the start.

The delivery of Essential Skills is responsive to individual learner needs and takes account of any prior achievement or Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). Literacy, numeracy and digital skills development is embedded within the engagement and advancement pathway and all JGW+ centres also provide access to a specialised Essential Skills provision. Delivery schedules vary between centres, each location offers opportunities for learners to develop and achieve qualifications in Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy, from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2.

Our Level 3 Apprenticeship in CCPLD will help develop 濒别补谤苍别谤鈥檚 knowledge, skills and occupational competence within Child Care settings.听

The aim of this Apprenticeship is to assess and develop the 濒别补谤苍别谤鈥檚 knowledge and skills of working with children in settings where the main purpose is care, learning and development.听

Our Level 4 Professional Practice in CCPLD Apprenticeship enables learners to develop and demonstrate their advanced knowledge, skills and understanding in the context of children鈥檚 care, play, learning and development settings.

Our Level 5 Apprenticeship in Children鈥檚 Care, Play, Learning & Development, Leadership & Management enables learners to develop and demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding in the context of children鈥檚 care, play, learning and development settings.听

Learners will be able to demonstrate that they understand a range of leadership and management concepts, theories and techniques.听

Our Youth E-Mental Health First Aid course aims to improve the awareness of mental health problems among children and young people and is suitable for anyone interested in or already working with young people.

The course aim is to reduce stigma, promote help-seeking behaviour and provide initial intervention before professional help is delivered. While the course is suitable for all those working and living with young people, it can be targeted at those working with vulnerable young people, including those leaving care, young offenders, refugees and asylum seekers. YMHFA (Wales) has a focus on some of the issues that are particularly associated with young people such as substance misuse, including alcohol misuse, self-harm and eating disorders.

Our Level 3 Apprenticeship in Playwork prepares learners to work within a play environment. Practitioners are supported to provide a number of stimulating activities and opportunities for children, promoting play and development.

Our Level 2 Apprenticeship in CCPLD will help develop learners knowledge, skills and occupational competence with in Child Care settings.听

The aim of the of this apprenticeship is to prepare learners to work within an Early Years environment. At this level, practitioners are supported to provide a number of stimulating activities and opportunities for children, promoting play, learning and development
